Mormon Folklore

There has been some noise on this site lately about the postmortem conversion of some of our most prominent early U.S. political figures (thank you Brother Marrón). (By the way, 10 points for anyone who can tell me the significance of the name Ixtlilxochitl to Mormon Folklore).

I think it is safe to say that Mormons tend to be a rather patriotic group. I was often told growing up that God established America and hand-picked the founding fathers specifically to restore the gospel and establish the Mormon church. We also have the stories about the founding fathers appearing in the St. George temple to see that their temple work was done for them. We believe they were divinely inspired God-fearing men.

But what about our political leaders today? Are they bound for celestial glory, or are they heading in another direction?

I recently received an email with some rather incriminating photos. Maybe some of you have seen these already, but it makes me wonder if this might affect the potential future conversion of any of these current prominent political figures. What do you think?
